Created by the Town of Mooers to recognize and honor residents who have served or who are serving in the United States
Armed Services. This program is non-political and non-partisan and is intended to serve as a living memorial to those
service men and women from the Town of Mooers. As an ongoing program, applications will be accepted at any time by
those who wish to sponsor a banner. (The application deadline for May 2022 placement is Dec. 31, 2021.) The banners shall
be displayed from May to November and measure 30” x 60”. Banners will be displayed and stored by the town.

     TO PARTICIPATE
Street banners will be installed honoring Town of Mooers/Mooers Forks Honorees (past or present) who meet the
requirements below. A completed application and the required additional documents must be provided for review by the
committee. Banners are limited to 1 per service person for a fee of $150.

     ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Honoree must be:
     ● Military personnel
     ● Currently serving, honorably discharged, retired or deceased
Honoree (family of) must meet one of the following criteria:
     ● Be a current resident of the Town of Mooers/Mooers Forks
     ● Have previously lived in the town as a resident for 10 years or more.
Honoree (family of) please provide:
     ● Documentation of active service
     ● Documentation of separation/retirement from service
Residency requirement can be waived if Honoree is a graduate of Mooers Central School, Northeastern Clinton Central
School (NCCS), or Northern Adirondack Central School (NAC) who lived in the Town of Mooers or a resident at time of birth.

Each application is subject to approval by the Town of Mooers Hometown Heroes Committee.

     BANNER LOCATIONS
Locations for displaying the banners will be determined by Town of Mooers Hometown Heroes Committee. Available space
is determined solely by the town. A map outlining where each banner is hung shall be made available to all residents on the
website and at the town offices.

There is a red locked drop box outside of the town office if dropping after hours.
